A Brief Overview

The Nursing Quality Supervisor is a leader in the health care delivery system committed to servicing the community and promoting health. The Nursing Quality Supervisor functions within the clinical microsystem in order to accept accountability for healthcare outcomes within a unit through the incorporation and application of research-based information. They use this information to design, propose, implement, and evaluate patient care within the unit or health care setting. The Nursing Quality Supervisor functions to be a provider and manager of care at the point of care to individuals within the unit. This role designs, implements, and evaluates patient care by coordinating, delegating and overseeing the care provided by the health care team within their unit, which includes licensed nurses, technicians, educators, and other health professionals. This position supports department service and hospital and ambulatory standards. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont-Vail HealthCare is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Education Qualifications

What you will do

  • Functions as a team manager through proper delegation and management of nursing resources (human and fiscal) and promote collaboration with other health professional team members.
  • Focuses on the design and provision of health promotion and risk reduction services for diverse populations. Ensures population-appropriate health care is provided to individuals, clinical groups, and communities. Designs and implements plan of care based on needs of the patient population.
  • Customizes care through identify patterns and modifying interventions to meet specific needs of individuals, clinical populations, or communities within the unit.
  • Analyzes and evaluates overall patient care program, utilizing LEAN principles and tools. Provide vendor management including scheduling of vendor visits, coordination of meetings with the vendors, ensuring vendor is completing their tasks appropriately and timely, ensuring vendor expense/time use is appropriate.
  • Works with vendors to ensure issues list (concerns/plans relating to implementation) are created and effectively maintained and communicated. Also assists with Scope documentation as appropriate for the implementation/vendor.
  • Participates in the evaluation of care outcomes in order to achieve optimal patient care.
