The FDVA State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program. From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years. Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender. Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent will be responsible for emphasizing the prevention and management of infections. The Nursing Program Specialist / Infection Preventionist will establish goals and priorities for the Infection Control Prevention and Control Program, develop and implement strategies to achieve these goals, monitor the implementation of the program (including the disciplinary team’s infection control practices), and respond to errors, problems, and other identified issues. In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the incumbent is responsible for the nursing operations of the facility.
