Job summary

Nebraska Medicine in Omaha is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Specialist to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate education and competency programs for nursing staff. This role focuses on align­ing activities with standardized functions for Nursing Professional Development and supports patient care excellence.

The position is full-time, on-site, and requires a BSN, Nebraska RN licensure (or compact), and strong teaching/communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of current clinical nursing experience in health care.
  • BSN degree required for the role.
  • Plan development activities that improve outcomes and performance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to instruct and collaborate with others.
  • Knowledge of systems/change theory and teaching/learning principles.
  • RN license in Nebraska or a compact state required.
  • BLS certification from an AHA-endorsed program required.

Job Summary: Nursing Professional Development Specialist

Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate processes to meet the educational, development and competency need of nursing and nursing support staff through effective use of a variety of learning activities. Align activities with programs and processes the standardized functions for Nursing Professional Development.

Required Qualifications: Nursing Professional Development Specialist
  • Minimum of three years current applicable clinical experience in a health care setting required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan development activities that impact positive outcomes and performance.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and collaborate with others required.
  • Ability to solve complex problems through a well-ordered approach required.
  • Knowledge of systems and change theory, individual, and group behaviors, teaching and learning principles, and research outcomes required.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize diverse clinical and leadership responsibilities required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications: Nursing Professional Development Specialist
  • Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Based on position, one or more of the following courses including STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, basic critical care or other specialty training courses is preferred
  • Certification and ANPD or clinical specialty preferred.
