Northwood Technical College is seeking a Nursing Pre-Program Advisor to assist associate degree Nursing students with personal, academic, and career planning as they transition into college and prepare for employment. The role supports student success across four Wisconsin campus locations and collaborates with college resources and community partners.

The LTE position is grant-funded through September 30, 2027, with responsibilities spanning advising, orientation, and student engagement to help

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent
• Two years related work experience
• One year supervisory/leadership experience or equivalent
• Equivalent education/occupational experience may substitute the bachelor’s degree
• One additional year of related work experience may substitute supervisory/leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Provide student-centered advising to pre-program Nursing students to support academic preparedness and admissions.
• Schedule regular meetings with students to monitor admission progress and registration.
• Apply evidence-based best practices in academic advising and student success for pre-program Nursing students.
• Refer students to College resources to support retention and success.
• Collaborate with academic and student affairs staff to support nursing program retention and completion goals.
• Support new student orientation and campus-wide student engagement initiatives.

Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified applicants for a full-time Nursing Pre-Program Advisor at any of our four campus locations. (Ashland, New Richmond, Rice Lake, or Superior)

The Nursing Pre-Program Advisor assists associate degree Nursing students with personal, academic, and career planning as they transition into college, pursue their academic goals, and prepare for professional employment. The advisor collaborates with students, colleagues, employers, and community agencies to enhance student success. This is an LTE position with grant funding through September 30, 2027.

• Provide student-centered advising to pre-program Nursing students to facilitate academic preparedness, admissions process, program admittance.
  • Schedule regular meetings with students to determine admission and academic preparedness progress and provide assistance with registration.
• Use evidence-based best practices in academic advising and student success for associate degree nursing students
• Know, understand and refer students to appropriate College resources to support students and enhance retention
• Create, maintain, and use student advising and registration records
• Collaborate with academic and student affairs staff to support nursing program student retention and completion goals
  • Align advising with support services to ensure pre-program students complete ATI Launch program
  • Work with counselors to transition pre-program students to program status
• Collaborate with dean and other staff to provide new student orientation, student support, and student engagement opportunities.
• Maintain professional partnerships with community organizations.
• Provide advisor perspective to advocate for student needs.
• Serve as a professional advising resource for college staff in order to effectively meet student needs
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent*
• Two years related work experience
• One year supervisory/leadership experience or equivalent**

  *Equivalent educational/occupational experience may be anAssociate degree in a related field plus four years of additional related work experience may be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.

  **One additional year of related work experience may be considered in lieu of supervisory/leadership experience.
