Job summary

Astrya Global Medical Staffing seeks a PCU nurse for a 13-week assignment in Great Falls, Montana. Schedule is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, five days a week, with potential extension.

You will care for hemodynamically stable patients on the Progressive Care Unit, perform assessments, use advanced medical equipment, and collaborate with clinicians. A Montana RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required.

Job description

Job Title: PCU
Location: Great Falls, Montana
Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5
Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension
Pay Rate: $51 - $55/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a PCU for a temporary assignment in Great Falls, Montana. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a PCU:
  • Provide care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on the Progressive Care Unit/Step Down who do not require transfer to the ICU
  • Deliver physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients
  • Care for anticipated patient populations including post-op surgical patients, pre and post PCI care, pacemaker placement, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, and sepsis
  • Perform skilled assessment and intervention for potentially deteriorating conditions
  • Operate advanced medical equipment and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple IVs, and patients requiring long-term stable ventilation support, CPAP, or BiPAP O2 support
  • Provide care for general medical and surgical patients on the inpatient unit from admission to discharge, including discharge planning
  • Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes
  • Effectively interact with patients and significant others while maintaining the standard of professional nursing
  • Assess and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
  • Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff
  • Provide direction to RN, LPN, CNA, Housekeeping Staff, and Dietary Staff
  • Receive directions from Providers, Charge Nurse, and Chief Nursing Officer
  • Complement the Medical Surgical Nursing Unit when staffing actions are required
  • Maintain current State of Montana RN Licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • Utilize basic office equipment and multiple IV pumps, and operate advanced medical equipment including A-lines, invasive lines, and chest tubes
  • Perform basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation
  • Manage common IV medications including Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine (non-titrated), Lasix or Bumex, Amiodarone, and Dopamine (non-titrated)
  • Apply advanced nursing principles and procedures
  • Utilize pediatric experience as preferred
  • Apply experience in post heart catheterization and post-op vascular surgery patients as preferred
