Job summary

Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx is seeking an experienced Nursing Administrator to oversee daily clinical operations for a unit/department, ensuring safe patient care and adherence to ICARE values. The role includes staffing oversight, policy development, quality improvement, and collaboration with nursing leadership to retain staff and ensure readiness for regulatory surveys.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration or related nursing discipline with 3 years of satisfactory nursing experience, at least 1 year in an administrative or supervisory capacity, which may include managing a specific department or nursing unit within a hospital or health care setting, overseeing patient care, staff management and the day-to-day operations of the department, as well as demonstrating clinical competency in relevant clinical area; or
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing; and four (4) years of satisfactory nursing experience (i.e., clinical care), two (2) years of which must have been in a clinical supervisory capacity (i.e., Head Nurse, Supervisor experience), as well as demonstrating clinical competency in relevant clinical area.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily nursing clinical operations and patient care delivery for one unit/department. Ensures structured safety huddles and appropriate patient assignments.
• Assists in developing policies, objectives and standards of nursing service; interprets policies and objectives to staff and other disciplines.
• Participates in planning, organizing, and evaluating of nursing service and/or health programs; monitors delegation, care coordination, and escalation pathways.
• Assists in implementing organizational plans for nursing service that delineate nursing functions and ensure maintenance of competent nursing staff.
• Oversees daily staffing, scheduling, and equipment coverage; manages overtime to meet departmental goals within budgetary guidelines; collaborates on staff retention and engagement.
• Leads quality and safety initiatives, conducts staff performance reviews, and ensures adherence to documentation and regulatory requirements.
