Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago is seeking a PT Nursing Lab Coordinator in the Nursing department to lead nursing skills demonstrations, monitor student performance, and manage lab schedules.

You will maintain the laboratory, order supplies, and support faculty with clinical skill development while upholding CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and Illinois RN license required.
• Minimum two years of clinical nursing and teaching experience.
• CPR Instruction certification preferred.
• Proficiency in computer usage is required.
• Must have supervisory skills and ability to work with a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

• Assists students in acquiring nursing skills by demonstrating methods.
• Supervises and tutors students during laboratory practice.
• Maintains laboratory, orders supplies, inventories, and equipment.
• Provides medical equipment and supplies for demonstrations.
• Maintains attendance and skill records for students in the lab.

PT NURSING LAB COORDINATOR

Primary Objective

Responsible for providing nursing skillsdemonstrations, monitoring student performance, creating labschedules and handling laboratory matters which arise.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists students in acquiring selected nursing skills bydemonstrating the appropriate methods. Supervises and tutorsstudents during practice performance in the laboratory.
2. Creates a learning environment that will enhance students’ability to use conceptual thinking and problem solving skills.
3. Works closely with departmental faculty to plan strategies thatwill increase the student(s) ability to meet clinical skillrequirements.
4. Maintains the laboratory, orders supplies, keeps inventory, andorders various anatomical training aids and multimedia suppliesincluding computer software and videotapes.
5. Provides medical equipment and supplies needed fordemonstration of clinical procedures.
6. Maintains records of student attendance and skill performancein a college laboratory.
7. Performs other duties as required.
8. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, current registeredprofessional nursing license in the state of Illinois, supplementedby a minimum of two years experience in clinical nursing practicesand previous teaching experience required. A CPR Instructioncertification preferred.
2. Proficiency in computer usage is required.
3. Must possess supervisory skills, the ability to workeffectively with a diverse student body and the ability to maintaingood working relationships with staff.
4. Must be self-directed, innovative and able to assess currentoperations in an effort to develop practical action programs to improve the functioning of the department.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required withthe ability to interact effectively with students.
6. Must be able to work well within a culturally diverseenvironment with the ability to handle all situations with tact anddiplomacy.

Salary: $33- $40/ hour

Union: 1600PT

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collectivebargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience,knowledge, skills and abilities.
