Job Summary:
Provides instruction, outreach, and other professional contributions aligned with the mission and strategic goals of the College and Academic Affairs. Develops, implements, and maintains currency of courses, programs, and curricula in assigned program/discipline. Creates an innovative and engaging learning environment. Under the supervision of the Dean, faculty members are responsible for satisfying the educational, administrative, and fiscal requirements inherent in his/her position. May supervise paraprofessional and/or student employees. This is an in-person position.

Essential Functions:
1. Designs/delivers effective instruction, including simulation instruction, as assigned, thru traditional, online, and hybrid formats, using course outlines approved by College Curriculum Council.
2. Advises students in discipline (or related field). Holds office hours, as required by union contract.
3. Collaborates with colleagues to design, select, and implement appropriate assessment of student learning at course and program level. Collaborates in conducting program/discipline area reviews and continuous improvement activities in teaching and learning, including periodic curriculum reviews.
4. Assists program director in developing class schedules and department budget, when appropriate.
5. In collaboration with program director/designee, selects and orders course textbooks.
6. Submits grades and other required paperwork within required timelines.
7. Serves on instructional committees, taskforces, or workgroups and attends departmental, divisional, and college meetings. Contributes to decision-making in a productive manner.
8. Recommends equipment and software needs to the Program Director and Academic Dean.
9. Maintains clinical compliance requirements according to standards of clinical partners.
10. Develops/maintains relationships with external constituencies (e.g., high schools, community agencies, advisory committees, vendors). Maintains highest ethical standards in relationships with constituencies, research activities, and business dealings with and on behalf of the College, per policy.
11. Effectively integrates instructional technology in classroom, when appropriate.
12. Remains current in discipline and current trends in teaching methodologies for specific discipline.
13. Participates, as requested, in interview/selection process for full-time faculty. Assists program director in orienting and mentoring new full-time and adjunct faculty, as needed.
14. Participates in graduation exercises.
Other Duties:
1. Oversees operation of Simulation and NEC labs, student workstudies, and evaluation of NEC staff.
2. Develops simulation and lab activities for various lab experiences aligned with curriculum.
3. Coordinates use of simulation technology to support student learning and practice. Coordinates schedule of lab activities with nursing program director.
4. Works with faculty to establish lab simulation learning activities.
5. Prepares, sets up, and runs computer programming/controls for nursing lab simulations.
6. Manage simulations in lab activities and program scenarios.
7. Provides remedial instruction to students with targeted deficiencies.
8. Coordinates and maintains all equipment and supplies for skills and simulation labs.
9. Schedules maintenance for various medical equipment used in skills and simulation labs.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Master of Science in Nursing ( MSN ) from regionally accredited institution required. Two years of experience teaching nursing education courses at a community college or university preferred. Equivalent of at least two years of full-time professional nursing experience required; specialty in acute care nursing desirable. Supervisory skills and one year of experience teaching in a high-fidelity nursing simulation lab preferred. Must be highly motivated and self-directed in building a high-quality educational program and relationships with industry, education, and community partners. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
