Job summary

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Nursing Instructor for our Tucson campus nursing program. This part-time, benefits-eligible role educates and mentors nursing students across didactic, laboratory, and clinical environments in accordance with program curriculum and Arizona State Board rules.

Responsibilities include instruction, clinical leadership, lab oversight, and program development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing preferred; BSN accepted if the baccalaureate is in Nursing.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program recognized by USDE or CHEA.
• Minimum of three years of occupational RN experience providing direct patient care.
• Current Arizona RN license in good standing (or active Compact multi-state privilege).
• Excellent verbal/written communication; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and interactive smartboards.

• Provide didactic classroom instruction and/or clinical learning experiences for students.
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans based on approved course syllabi, objectives, and outlines.
• Coordinate learning objectives between the classroom and clinical sites, maintaining positive relationships with site representatives.
• Assist with upkeep, inventory, and equipment recommendations for the Nursing Skills Laboratory.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing program with the Program Director.
• Participate in program evaluation plans and accreditation processes (NLN/ACEN).
• Schedule regular academic counseling and student advisement sessions.
• Interview and counsel prospective student applicants.
• Maintain accurate attendance, clinical evaluation logs, and academic records per policy.

Compensation: $37.51 – $46.89 per hour

Position Summary

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Nursing Instructor for our Tucson campus nursing program . In this part-time, benefits-eligible role (30 hours per week), you will educate and mentor nursing students across didactic, laboratory, and clinical environments in accordance with program curriculum, institutional standards, and Arizona State Board of Nursing rules .

Whether teaching in the classroom, guiding skills lab practice, or supervising students at clinical sites, you will play a critical role in shaping competent, compassionate future nurses .

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Clinical Leadership

• Didactic & Clinical Delivery: Provide didactic classroom instruction and/or clinical learning experiences for students.
• Lesson Execution: Prepare and deliver lesson plans based on approved course syllabi, objectives, and outlines.
• Clinical Supervision: Coordinate learning objectives between the classroom and clinical sites, maintaining positive working relationships with site representatives.
• Lab Maintenance: Assist with the upkeep, inventory, and equipment recommendations for the Nursing Skills Laboratory.
• Program Development: In conjunction with the Program Director, assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing program of learning.
• Standards & Accreditation: Participate in program evaluation plans and accreditation processes (e.g., NLN/ACEN) . Help develop standards for student admission, progression, and graduation .
• Faculty Mentorship: Assist with orienting and mentoring new nursing faculty members.

Student Advising & Administration

• Academic Counseling: Schedule regular check-ins to provide academic feedback, personal counseling, and student advisement .
• Applicant Screening: Interview and counsel prospective student applicants .
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate student attendance, clinical evaluation logs, and academic records per institutional policies .

Education

• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred .
• Master’s degree in another field is acceptable if the Baccalaureate degree is in Nursing (BSN) .
• Program Background: Graduation from an accredited nursing program recognized by the USDE or CHEA .
• Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of occupational experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct patient care .
• Licensure & Credentials: Current Arizona RN license in good standing (or an active Compact multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona) .
• Technical & Soft Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), interactive smartboards, and online testing platforms .

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of full-time teaching experience or experience administering a nursing education program leading to licensure .

Working Conditions & Safety

• Exposure to indoor classroom, laboratory, and clinical environment settings .
• Exposure to biohazardous materials (blood, saliva, sharps) and medical equipment (IV pumps, fetal monitors, stethoscopes) .
• Hiring Range: $37.51 to $46.89 per hour.
