This position is funded in part through federal funds.

Recruitment Range: $59,732 - $85,846

The Nursing Home Surveyor (Nurse Consultant I) position involves regulatory activities to determine compliance of nursing homes with federal and state requirements through inspections.

Responsibilities
  • Applying laws, regulations, rules, and protocols that have been established by the state or federal government.
  • Making decisions in conjunction with interdisciplinary team members or independently.
  • Completion of survey reports.
Work Arrangement & Travel

This is a home-based position servicing Alexander, Allegheny, Ashe, Avery, Caldwell, Catawba, Davie, Iredell, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes counties. The Nursing Home Surveyor spends an average of three days per week in nursing homes conducting inspections. Occasional inspections may occur on weekends and night shift. Although management attempts to schedule inspections within a region, the consultant should expect overnight stays when the nursing home is greater than 60 miles from their home base.

Qualifications
  • Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) within 2 years of hire.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina with one year of experience in the area of specialization.
  • Strong clinical nursing background, including assessment, care planning and delivery of care (as part of preferred qualifications).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to compose technical reports using good grammar.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing home state and federal standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Residence in one of the following counties: Greene, Harnett, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Wake, Wayne, Wilson.
