Job summary

Fortis College in Columbia, SC is seeking a Nursing Instructor for a part-time hourly position to educate the next generation of nurses.

Required: an accredited nursing education program, a current SC RN license or multi-state privilege, a master’s in nursing, and teaching experience. The faculty will deliver curriculum, supervise clinical and lab activities, and participate in program evaluation and professional development.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited professional nursing education program.
• A current, active, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or multi-state privilege to practice in South Carolina.
• A master's degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
• Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
• Functional abilities to carry out classroom, clinical, and laboratory teaching responsibilities.
• Competence in clinical skills in areas of teaching.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.

Fortis is affiliated withEducation Affiliates, a company with approximately 50 post-secondary schools nationwide, with over 20 of these locations offering nursing programs.These schools are known as Fortis College,Fortis Institute,Denver School of Nursing,and St. Paul’s School of Nursing. Our programs range from practical nursing toMSN degrees.

Position Description:

Nursing faculty are professionals with the education and practice skills topreparethe next generation of nurses. Faculty members are accountable to the Dean/Director of Nursing for the implementation of the approved curriculum based on the mission and philosophy of the nursing program and the College/Campus. They provide students with opportunities toacquiretheknowledge and practice the skillsidentifiedincourseobjectivesusing varied andappropriate teachingmethods. They plan learning activities to meet program outcomes based on the standards set by policies, legal and other regulatory requirements, and acceptable practice. Faculty alsoparticipateinthe program’s evaluation and continuous improvement process andengageinpersonal professional development.

Requirements:
