Qualifications

Job description

Opportunity at a Glance

Collaborating with academic partners, faculty, and staff, the Specialist provides strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program and as they prepare for success with the NCLEX-RN exam. Working with students individually and in small groups, the Specialist assesses learning styles, identifies strengths, and discovers opportunities for academic development. They create and implement personalized remediation plans for students' academic and professional success. Additionally, the Specialist supports clinical learning labs and simulated patient care experiences.

Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate simulation-based experiences (SBE) and labs, including equipment maintenance, supply ordering, setup, and cleanup.
  2. Maintain current, detailed knowledge of NCLEX-RN concepts and nursing practice to provide effective academic support.
  3. Assist in creating Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops.
  4. Exhibit professionalism and service excellence in communication and interactions with students, colleagues, and external agencies.
  5. Document and report students' academic progress to academic leadership.
  6. Develop and implement clinically based scenarios for simulated learning, utilizing high-fidelity patient simulators.
  7. Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to meet course objectives.
  8. Provide individual oversight during practice and remediation of nursing skills.
  9. Offer individual or group tutoring and participate in outreach to at-risk students.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned and adhere to policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (required).
  • Master's Degree in Education or Nursing (preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting classroom instruction or tutoring in an academic setting (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Current, unencumbered RN license (required).
  • BLS CPR certification (required), BLS CPR instructor certification (required), ACLS and PALS (preferred).

Additional Information
