Job summary

California State University San Marcos seeks a seasoned Director of the School of Nursing to lead administrative and academic programs across CSUSM campuses. The role focuses on program evolution, accreditation, partnerships with clinical sites, and faculty development, reporting to the Dean in CEHHS.

The position is 9-month, full-time and tenure-track with potential for tenure; includes oversight of budgeting, staffing, and program innovation aligned with institutional priorities.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Nursing or related field (e.g., PhD, DNSc, EdD).
• 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in public higher education.
• Minimum of one year leading and/or supervising the work of faculty and staff.
• One year of administrator, director and/or department chair experience.
• One year of direct patient care as a registered nurse or equivalent.
• Knowledge of prelicensure and graduate progression to the DNP is essential.
• Be eligible for (and maintain) a California active unencumbered RN license.
• Established leadership in nursing and nursing academia including effective administration skills.
• Record of scholarly teaching, research and service meriting Full Professor.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning for the School of Nursing.
• Oversee program planning and development.
• Oversee accreditation evaluation and university assessment for School of Nursing programs.
• Oversee budget and ongoing expansion of programs and simulation.
• Hire and review faculty as appropriate.
• Lead self-study, site evaluations, and CCNE/BRN reports.
• Oversee NCLEX coordination for students.
• Lead in nursing policy and engagement at state level.
• Develop partnerships with educational and clinical partners.
