Job summary

Longterm Health Management Services is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) for a Sheltered Care Facility in Wheeling, Illinois. The DON will oversee all resident care services, ensure compliance with IDPH Sheltered Care Facility regulations, and lead a multidisciplinary team to provide dignified, safe, and person-centered care.

The role requires an Illinois RN license and at least two years of leadership experience in long-term care. BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license in good standing.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a long-term care, assisted living, or sheltered care setting.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of IDPH Sheltered Care Facility regulations (77 Ill. Adm. Code 330).
• BSN preferred; experience with quality improvement programs and survey processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct the overall operations of nursing and personal care services.
• Develop and maintain policies in compliance with IDPH Sheltered Care Facility regulations.
• Lead strategic planning, quality assurance, and risk management activities.
• Ensure regulatory compliance for sheltered care at local, state, and federal levels.
• Coordinate resident care oversight with physicians and providers.
• Supervise medication administration and storage per IDPH requirements.
• Recruit, train, and supervise nursing staff including LPNs, CNAs, and PCAs.
• Schedule staff coverage; evaluate performance and provide coaching.
• Lead QA and performance improvement initiatives; engage in resident and family relations.
