Job summary

Southwest Colorado Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Community is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing department with a focus on quality outcomes and resident-centered care. This full-time leadership role involves building strong clinical teams, guiding staff development, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The DON will partner with facility leadership and the interdisciplinary team to drive survey readiness, quality improvement initiatives, and positive outcomes for residents

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Colorado or eligibility to obtain Colorado licensure.
• Previous nursing leadership experience preferred.
• Director of Nursing or similar leadership in skilled nursing/long-term care strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.
• Experience with survey preparation, quality improvement, and clinical compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the nursing department while collaborating with facility leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
• Lead, oversee, and support all nursing operations within the facility.
• Mentor and guide nursing staff to maintain high standards of care.
• Promote resident-centered care and clinical excellence; monitor practices for improvements.
• Ensure nursing services comply with regulations and survey readiness.
• Support staffing, retention, and development of the nursing team.
• Oversee policies, procedures, and clinical practices; participate in hiring and onboarding.
• Address resident and family concerns with professionalism and timely follow-up.
