Job summary

Mountain-Laurel Nursing and Rehab in Marion, VA is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the nursing Department and maintain excellent resident care in accordance with policies and regulations.

The DON will hire, train, coach, evaluate staff, and collaborate with the Administrator on admissions, budgets, and compliance. This role requires strong leadership, adherence to long‑term care standards, and effective communication with residents, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in good standing with a current state license.
• Minimum of five years’ nursing experience.
• One to two years of management/supervisory experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of long‑term care regulations.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the nursing department operations and ensure high-quality resident care.
• Hire, train, develop, coach, and evaluate nursing staff.
• Coordinate with Administrator on admissions, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and professional standards.
• Participate in surveys/inspections and communicate findings to leadership.
• Promote patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement.
