Job summary

Walter Reed Post Acute in Virginia is seeking a Director of Nursing to provide clinical leadership and oversight for a 181-bed sub-acute and long-term care facility, delivering person-centered care with passion and excellence.

The role requires an active RN license in the state, a nursing degree is preferred, and a minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience with supervision. This full-time position offers a competitive package and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• RN license active and unencumbered in the state of employment.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital, nursing care center, or related healthcare setting.
• Experience in supervision, leadership, and staff development.
• Experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare regulations, and standards applicable to long-term care settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement staffing plans reflecting the department's clinical needs and supports safe, high-quality resident care.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor, evaluate, and enhance the quality of nursing care delivered throughout the facility.
• Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with residents, family members, staff, and the interdisciplinary medical team.
• Partner closely with the Administrator to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care that aligns with organizational goals and resident needs.
• Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate departmental policies and procedures in accordance with current federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to nursing staff to promote professional growth, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
• Oversee quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to ensure continuous enhancement of nursing services.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and clinical standards governing nursing care facilities.
