Job summary

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. seeks a Director of Nursing for Mount Olive Correctional Center in Mount Olive, WV. The role leads all nursing services, drives clinical excellence, and supports a team delivering patient-centered care on a day shift schedule (4x10s).

You’ll provide strategic direction, oversee staffing, and ensure compliance with standards while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes across the facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Active unrestricted RN license in state of practice.
• Active CPR certification.
• 2–3 years of clinical supervisory experience; correctional experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with contractual and regulatory standards.
• Oversee the delivery of patient care through the nursing process, ensuring quality, consistency, and clinical excellence.
• Coordinate orientation, in-service training, and continuing education for nursing staff.
• Manage recruitment, retention, and performance evaluation of nursing personnel.
• Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
• Serve as a clinical resource and provide guidance to nursing staff on patient care and protocol adherence.
• Monitor daily clinical operations, including review of outpatient and infirmary reports.
• Act as on-call leadership for nursing-related issues and emergencies.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, administration, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Lead and participate in committees such as Quality Assurance, Infection Control, and Utilization Review.
• Support quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance evaluations to enhance patient care and workplace conditions.
• Review incidents, medication errors, and discrepancies, and ensure appropriate follow-up and reporting.
• Assist with grievance responses and ensuring timely resolution of concerns.
