Job description

Nursing Department Manager - PICU – Los Angeles, CA

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Department Manager to lead the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a CCS-designated, Magnet-recognized hospital. This role is integral in ensuring safe, high-quality patient care within an 8-bed PICU, with additional oversight of the Pediatric Unit as needed. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 management of nursing services in the PICU, ensuring patient safety and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Establish and maintain high standards of care, aligning with organizational goals and nursing practice standards.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Leadership to implement strategic plans and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing, and training to optimize resources.
  • Lead and mentor a team of nurses, fostering an environment of professional growth and accountability.
  • Oversee the implementation of patient care policies, procedures, and quality improvement activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices.

Education, Licenses/Certifications:

California RN License.

American Heart Association BLS, NRP, PALS, CCRN (Peds).

BSN or MSN (required).

Minimum 5 years of full-time equivalent PICU experience, including at least 3 years in a community hospital Level II PICU (current or recent).

Minimum 3 years of full-time equivalent PICU Manager or Supervisor experience (current or recent).

Management experience in a union environment preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $155,600–$201,300 annually.
  • Potential for up to a 15% annual performance-based bonus.
