Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an experienced registered nurse to plan and implement clinical services, systems, and performance improvements within a multidisciplinary care approach. You will collaborate with management to develop and maintain department policies and procedures.

The role emphasizes leadership responsibilities, quality initiatives, and coordination with physicians’ offices to ensure smooth patient throughput and high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 5-7 years of technical experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
• Stroke/ED experience, preferred.
• Quality and performance improvement experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with management to set nursing care standards and monitor staff compliance.
• Ensures a safe, caring environment and supports health teaching for patients and families.
• Develops department goals aligned with institutional values and promotes culturally sensitive care.
• Provides education for staff and oversees competencies related to patient care and equipment usage.
• Monitors quality indicators, identifies trends, and participates in remedial actions.
• Acts as a clinical liaison to hospital administration and coordinates with doctor offices for throughput.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and manages data protection of patient information.
• Supports research and protocol design, data collection, and publication efforts.
• Performs other essential duties as required.
