Job summary

Western Governors University seeks a Prelicensure Clinical Instructor (Hourly) on-site in Reno, NV to teach and mentor nursing students in clinical coursework, both on-site and remotely as needed.

Shifts include 7pm–7am overnight 2–3 times during a 3-week clinical rotation, with day shifts available. Compensation is hourly and paid bi-weekly.

Requires a Master’s degree in nursing, active RN license, and at least two years of nursing experience; distance education knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing is required (education verified).
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
• Active, unencumbered RN license in the designated state.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor students in clinical coursework, including group and one-on-one sessions.
• Ensure student success in clinical placement settings and oversee clinical learning.
• Use technology-based teaching and communication platforms to support student development.
• Submit electronic clinical evaluation forms after completion of clinical intensive.
• Provide final review and approval of student clinical time.
• Communicate with assigned coach/preceptor about student progress and concerns.
• Respond promptly to student needs and changes in priorities or deadlines.
• Collaborate with university professionals to promote a student-centered environment.
