Job summary

Eastern Shore Community College is seeking part‑time Nursing Clinical Lab Instructors to teach and supervise students in clinical, lab, and classroom settings. The role requires a current Virginia RN license or multi‑state licensure privilege, and a minimum of five years of recent clinical experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.

The instructor will align with the nursing curriculum, maintain professional relationships with clinical sites, and manage student records and hours.

Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

Eastern Shore Community College is seeking part‑time Nursing Clinical Lab Instructors.

Functional Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, supervision, and evaluation of student’s performance in classroom, clinical, and lab settings.
• Supervise and evaluate groups of students (usually 6-10 students) in hospital or health care settings.
• Understand the objectives of the assigned course and be familiar with the nursing curriculum.
• Maintain a collaborative and positive relationship with the clinical site, other faculty, and staff.
• Responsibilities may include work during the day, evening, and/or weekend as determined by the course(s) assigned.
• Maintain student records, including accurate clinical hours, and sign off at the end of each clinical day.
• Meet and communicate with students on a regular basis to provide academic feedback.
• Accurately complete clinical paperwork.
• Participate in all mandatory trainings, and/or meetings required before and during the semester, to include site‑specific orientation.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

• Holds a current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia.
• A minimum of five (5) years of recent full‑time, clinical experience as a registered nurse.
• Medical/Surgical nursing experience is required.
• A bachelor’s degree in nursing or nurse education from a regionally accredited college or university

Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
