Job summary

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a Nursing Care Attendant to assist in delivering age-appropriate nursing care under RN supervision. The role emphasizes patient safety, education, and collaboration with the care team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Minimum education includes a nursing assistant credential or equivalent training; pediatric experience is preferred. A competitive hourly salary is offered with comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing age-appropriate nursing care and education in collaboration with other team members.
  • Seek guidance appropriately to ensure optimal implementation of the plan of care and to promote continuity of care.
  • Assist in providing nursing care consistent with individualized medical and nursing plans of care, following policy, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Document response to education and respond to clinical emergencies; perform other duties as assigned to meet department and institution goals.
  • Request and maintain supplies and equipment in the patient care area in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the supply room and equipment in the patient care area.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Participate in performance management processes and meet job expectations.

Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing assigned individual care activities in a timely and efficient manner under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates clear communication, actively seeks clarification when needed, and follows instructions to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality patient care. Contributes positively to the care team while maintaining a focus on patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality.

Minimum Education and/or Training
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Graduation from approved school indicating completion of nursing assistant training or completion of foundation of nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Minimum Experience
  • Pediatric experience preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $19.50 - $28.50 per hour for the role of Nursing Care Attendant.
