Job Description

The Nursing Assistant (NA) supports Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) by performing delegated tasks, providing direct patient care, and assisting with unit coordination. The NA ensures patient comfort, safety, and dignity, practicing medical asepsis and respecting cultural differences. Responsibilities include basic patient care, assisting with procedures, documenting care, and supporting emergency responses.

Key Duties
  1. Prepare patients and equipment for procedures, assist with manual tasks.
  2. Record patient data and inform RN/LPN of observations.
  3. Administer personal care (feeding, bathing, ambulation, etc.) to meet patient needs.
  4. Assist with physical exams and procedures, including vital signs and specimen collection.
  5. Support patient admission, discharge, and transportation.
  6. Participate in professional development and support team learning.
  7. Perform wound care, IV assistance, and other specialized tasks upon competency validation.
Qualifications
  • Completion of approved Level I Nurse Aide program or equivalent.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques, patient care procedures, infection control, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift over 35 pounds, and follow instructions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
