Position: Nursing Attendant Med Surg Float - Per Diem

Position Summary

We are seeking a Nursing Attendant to join our team on a per diem basis. The successful candidate will assist in implementing the nursing process through direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and organized patient care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge, including orientation, property management, and escorting patients.
  • Conduct patient rounds for toileting, positioning, comfort, and safety; respond promptly to patient calls.
  • Assemble oxygen and suction equipment as needed.
  • Provide basic hygiene care, including bathing, oral care, and assisting with bedpans or urinals.
  • Prepare patients for meals, assist with feeding, and ensure proper positioning.
  • Assist with treatments such as applying/removing SCD wraps and collecting specimens.
  • Monitor and report clinical alarms and patient condition changes to RN.
  • Assist with patient mobility, linen changes, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Record vital signs and other patient data accurately and promptly.
  • Perform post-mortem care and safety observations for patients under continuous observation.
  • Respond to patient and family needs with compassion, establishing effective relationships.
  • Maintain competence through ongoing education and participate in staff meetings.
  • Support supply and equipment management, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with the organization's mission and values.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Certified Nursing Attendant program or at least 6 months relevant experience.
  • BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (issued by AHA) required upon hire.
  • Working knowledge of English; additional languages are a plus. Strong customer service and communication skills.
Licenses

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
