Job summary

Beacon Health System in Dowagiac, MI is seeking a Nursing Aide to assist with patient care activities and daily living tasks. You will support nursing staff, assist with transfers and personal care, and help maintain a safe environment for patients within the unit.

Responsibilities include reporting changes to the RN and ensuring rooms are clean and orderly. Required credentials include BLS within 30 days and Nurse Aide registration in Michigan; licensure can substitute education or experience

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience required.
• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire; Nurse Aide credential from Michigan Nurse Aide Registry is required.

• Assists with procedures ordered by physician and supervised by RN.
• Aids with personal care, activities of daily living, transfers, and transportation for patients/participants.
• Reports changes in physical, mental, or emotional conditions to nursing staff.

• Accommodates patients/participants with tending to personal care, activities of daily living and transfers/transport.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with keeping patients/participants rooms clean and orderly.
• Monitors patients/participants environment for safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as appropriate, as needed.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Michigan Nurse Aide Registry obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any issuing authority accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
