Job summary

Spring Mountain Treatment Center in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a dynamic PRN Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our inpatient team. The CNA provides daily patient care and supports nurses, teachers, and therapists in a 110-bed facility serving adults, teens, and children.

Key duties include observing patients, assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, documenting accurately, and maintaining a safe, structured environment under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Active CNA license from Nevada State Nursing Board.
  • 1–3 years behavioral health/mental health experience.
  • Good communication skills in reading, writing and speaking.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification.
  • Basic PC knowledge and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient well-being and provide a structured environment under supervision.
  • Complete patient observation rounds, 15-minute intervals as assigned.
  • Assist with transferring, lifting, or turning patients.
  • Obtain vital signs, height and weight, and document accurately.
  • Engage patients in activities aligned to treatment goals.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques and assist with seclusion/restraints when necessary.
  • Monitor behavioral improvements and report changes to the nurse.
  • Reinforce skills taught by nurses, physicians and therapists.
  • Perform CNA duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and linens.
  • Arrange patient transfer or transportation as required.
  • Follow established patient care policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward patients and address concerns.

Our individualized treatment includes a structured, therapeutic environment, intensive physician involvement and oversight, and daily group and educational programs. We provide a caring and healthy environment that gives individuals a chance to make positive changes.

Spring Mountain Treatment Center is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a PRN Certified Nursing Assistant. (CNA). Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is the clinical staff member who has interaction with patients on a daily basis. They present good communication and observation skills as well as the ability to accurately process and document information. The CNA provides structure and safety to the milieu environment as directed by hospital and unit procedures and manages patient behavior effectively. The CNA instructs, assists, and supervises patients in activities of daily living and provides services that support nurses, teachers, activity therapists, and other departments in various activities. They present good communication skills.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment, under direction of charge nurse or supervisor.
  • Complete patient observation rounds timely. Observation may be assigned every 15 minutes, within reach of patient and/or 1:1 patient care.
  • Assist with transferring, lifting, raising or turning patients.
  • Obtain patient’s vital signs, height and weight as assigned and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Engage with patient in activities and interactions designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals.
  • Apply de-escalation techniques to help manage patient’s emotions, behavior and participation in treatment and assist with seclusion and restraints when necessary.
  • Monitor behavioral improvements and reinforce these behaviors. Report changes and responses to treatment by communicating with team. Significant changes are reported to nurse immediately.
  • Reinforce skills patients learn from nurses, physicians and therapist that promote improved physical and mental wellness.
  • Ensure comfort, dignity, privacy and perform related CNA duties such as feed, bath, dress, groom, move patients or change linens.
  • Provide transfer or transportation for patient or coordinate transportation with appropriate staff member, as required.
  • Follow established policies, procedures and standards for patient care.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have an active CNA license from the Nevada State Nursing Board
  • 1-3 years of behavioral health/mental health experience required
  • Obtain BLS Basic Life Support certification
  • Good communication skills, i.e., reading, writing, and speaking
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Basic PC knowledge and medical terminology
  • Good leadership qualities which includes self-control, patience, and empathy
  • New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
  • Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check)
