Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a professional nursing student in a Diploma/Associate/Baccalaureate RN program
• Must provide proof of current, continuing enrollment at the completion of each semester
• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living
• Safely transports patients to tests and procedures
• Records patient vitals and intake/output
• Observes and reports changes in patient condition to RN
• Assists RN with admissions, transfers, discharges
• Assists in specimen collection and related tasks
• Answers call bells and relays messages to staff
• Prepares patients for examinations and procedures
• Maintains clean, safe environment to prevent infections
• Assists with personal hygiene and comfort measures
• May act as a sitter when assigned by the charge RN

This role performs high quality, cost effective direct and indirect patient care similar to those of a patient care tech-non-certified, including personal, physical and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. Must be enrolled as a professional nursing student in a Diploma Program, Associate, or Baccalaureate RN program of an accredited School of Nursing.* Must provide proof of current, continuing enrollment at the completion of each semester. Examples of acceptable documentation include a transcript and next semester schedule or a confirmation letter from the school.2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.**CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.7. Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate staff.8. Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.9. Assists in indirect patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.10. Assists with personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.11.
