Overview

Job Title: Nursing Assistant/UKHC — Eastern State Hospital, Gragg 2. Location: Lexington, KY. Requisition Number: RE51233. Working Title: Eastern State Hospital - MHA – Gragg 2. Department: H1050:ESH Nursing Services. Work Location: Lexington, KY. Grade Level: 05. Salary Range: $15.00-22.60/hour. Type of Position: Staff. Position Time Status: Full-Time. Required Education: HS. Shift: Three 12.5-hour shifts per week (7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) with some weekends and holidays. Deadline To Apply: 09/24/2025.

Responsibilities

• Assist a licensed healthcare provider in delivering patient care to adult patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis.
• Obtain vital signs; assist with activities of daily living; plan, organize, and implement psychiatric rehabilitation activities.
• Provide direct patient care by implementing treatment services and supervising patients during treatment/support activities.
• Escort patients to and from activities; assist in screening and basic assessments; document patient behavior and keep records.
• Lead or co-lead group activities and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment by following hospital and departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School diploma (HS).
• Required Experience: No experience required (previous healthcare experience and CPR certification preferred).
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Compassionate, honest, trustworthy; ability to work in a team and take direction; effective communication with staff, patients, and families; comfortable in a fast-paced environment; knowledge of CPR and basic vital sign interpretation; strong organizational, prioritization, computer navigation, and internet skills.
• Licenses/Registrations/Certification: None required.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: No.

Working Environment

Physical requirements include sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; standing or walking with up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds; exposure to risks of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and/or combative/violent individuals.
