The Nursing Assistant Trainee is enrolled in a learning experience designed to develop confidence and competence to serve as a caregiver providing personal care to clients. Under supervision of a licensed nurse, the trainee works with a preceptor to provide holistic, client-centered care that promotes independence and respects client rights in a safe, caring, and efficient manner. The trainee must work within the role of a non-certified nursing assistant and fulfill all training requirements within the designated timeframe. The program includes online and hands-on skills development, preparing trainees for state certification exams such as CNA. During training, the trainee follows infection prevention standards, safety protocols, and demonstrates the ability to follow instructions, handle stress, and prioritize responsibilities. The trainee assists with activities of daily living, basic health care needs, and documents client care as appropriate, communicating changes to a licensed nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, toileting, grooming, vital signs, transfers, meals, and light housekeeping.
