Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant Trainee is enrolled in a learning experience designed to develop confidence and competence to serve as a caregiver providing personal care to clients. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in partnership with a preceptor, the trainee provides holistic, client-centered care that promotes independence and respects client rights in a safe, caring, and efficient manner. The trainee works within the role of a non-certified nursing assistant, fulfilling all training requirements in a designated timeframe. The program includes online coursework and hands-on skills development, preparing trainees to take state certification exams for CNA or other designations upon completion.

Responsibilities

• Follow location-specific standards for infection prevention, control, PPE use, safety, and privacy.
• Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Provide age-appropriate care, including assistance with activities of daily living, vital signs, psychosocial support, and other personal care tasks.
• Assist with transfers, repositioning, exercises, and mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
• Support clients with meals, hydration, and nutritional supplements.
• Perform housekeeping, laundry, and other duties within the non-certified nursing assistant role.
• Communicate client condition changes and concerns to licensed nurses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 16; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience is a plus.
• For applicable states, certified and registered with the UAP Registry.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to perform essential driving functions if required.
