A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Nursing Assistant Trainee to join their team. This role involves participating in a formal training program designed to develop skills in providing personal care to clients. The trainee will work under the supervision of licensed nurses, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring client comfort and safety. The Nursing Assistant Trainee is enrolled in a learning experience designed to develop confidence and competence to serve as a caregiver providing personal care to clients. Under supervision of a licensed nurse and in partnership with a preceptor, the trainee provides holistic, client-centered care that promotes independence and respects client rights in a safe, caring, and efficient manner. The trainee operates within the scope of a non-certified nursing assistant.
The trainee participates in a formal nursing assistant program, fulfilling all training requirements within the designated timeframe. They may only perform tasks they have been trained and deemed proficient in by the instructor. The program combines online coursework and hands-on skills development. Upon completion, trainees are prepared to take state exams to obtain CNA or other relevant certification.
During training, the trainee adheres to location-specific standards for infection control, PPE use, safety, and privacy. They follow written and verbal instructions, perform detailed work accurately, handle stress, think critically, and prioritize tasks. The trainee collaborates with clients and families to meet physical, cognitive, spiritual, emotional, and social needs, delivering age-appropriate care as per the care plan.
The trainee assists the care team, documents care activities, and communicates client condition changes to licensed nurses. They help with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, psychosocial support, and personal care. They assist with transfers, repositioning, range of motion exercises, walking, and support with meals and nutritional intake. Additional duties include housekeeping, laundry, and other non-certified nursing tasks.
