Job summary

The University of Michigan Health System seeks a capable Nursing Assistant to support patient care under RN supervision. You will perform delegated clinical or laboratory procedures, monitor equipment, record vital signs, stock areas and transport patients as needed.

Strong candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks. CNA certification or enrollment in related programs is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment.

  • Under direct supervision by the RN performs delegated clinical or laboratory procedures.
  • Monitor, set-up & maintain the operations of clinical equipment.
  • Record & document vital signs.
  • Stock & maintain inventory of specialized areas.
  • Transport patients to & from designated locations.
  • Assist with admitting & discharge procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned under the direction and supervision of the RN.

Job Summary
  • Under direct supervision by the RN performs delegated clinical or laboratory procedures.
  • Monitor, set-up& maintain the operations of clinical equipment.
  • Record & document vital signs.
  • Stock & maintain inventory of specialized areas.
  • Transport patiens to & from designated locations.
  • Assist with admitting & discharge procdures.
  • Perform other related duties as assignedunder the direction and superision of the RN
Required Qualifications*
  • Graduation from high school orGED,or an equivalent combination of education and experience necessary.
  • Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment as well as constantly positioning self to provide patient care and related duties.
Desired Qualifications*
  • Progressive knowledge in methods, procedures, materials and equipment of designated area.
  • 6 months experience in skilled long-term facility/acute care hospital, or
  • Volunteer work of the equivalent of 1 year or experience in short-term care facility (i.e., rehab), or
  • Completion of Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program, or
  • Enrollment in pre-PA or pre-MA program track, or
  • Associate Nursing Degree (AND) program
