Nursing Assistant - Renal/Medical Unit Night Shift

Join to apply for the Nursing Assistant - Renal/Medical Unit Night Shift role at Advocate Health.

Scheduled Hours: Full Time; Night Shift 6:30 pm to 7:00 am, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Education/Experience Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of CNA program preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of basic computer keyboard functions preferred.
  • Courteous and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate responsible and ethical behaviors aligned with Advocate values (Equality, Compassion, Excellence, Partnership, Stewardship).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • CPR certification required.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Admission/Discharge Transfer processes under guidance of GIP Hospice Nurse or Clinical Supervisor, including setting up patient rooms, orienting patients and families, obtaining vital signs, and ensuring belongings are documented.
  • Provide general patient care specific to the patient population, including personal care, assisting with activities and mobility, toileting, responding to patient requests, caring for indwelling devices, and assisting with nutrition.
  • Contribute to the patient’s care plan through documentation and communication of needs and outcomes.
  • Support hospice team and organizational goals, maintain accurate documentation, uphold patient confidentiality, and support patient and family education.
  • Ensure patient safety and unit operation standards, respond to emergencies, maintain equipment, and adhere to infection control policies.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work various shifts, including holidays.
  • Exposure to contagious diseases, chemicals, and hazards.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds when assisting patients.

Addendum: Report safety events and near misses, adhere to safety practices, promote a culture of safety, and communicate effectively to prevent harm.
