Job description

Job Summary: Geisinger is proud to offer a per diem Nursing Assistant position with market-leading pay rates, up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts, and up to $40,000 in financial support to become an RN.

Job Duties:

  • Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, supporting the multidisciplinary care plan.
  • Observe, document, and report patient needs and condition changes promptly.
  • Obtain and handle specimens per policy and physician orders.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, and linen changes.
  • Maintain patient safety through one-to-one safety watch as assigned.
  • Process and transport specimens to the laboratory timely.
  • Perform point of care testing, maintenance, and quality control of instruments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and supply issues.
  • Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
  • Handle clerical duties related to admissions, transfers, discharges, and documentation.
  • Coordinate transportation of patients and specimens.
  • Assist with ordering supplies and communicate with food services for patient diets.
  • Operate and maintain clerical equipment, schedule maintenance as needed.
  • Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as required.

Work is typically performed in an office environment, adhering to organizational policies and procedures.

Position Details:

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year related work experience - Preferred
  • Certifications and Licenses: As applicable
