Atlantic Health System is seeking a PER DIEM Nursing Assistant I for the MMC Ambulatory Surgery Center located in Rockaway, NJ. The days can fall between Monday - Friday, with varying shifts, depending on the surgical schedule.

Responsibilities include working with healthcare professionals to treat patients undergoing ambulatory surgery and other procedures such as colonoscopies, orthopedic sports and minor trauma, GYN, laparoscopic, plastics, urology, general, rectal, podiatry, and pediatrics.

1. Supporting nursing staff in providing direct patient care
2. Assisting patients with ambulating, eating, drinking, toileting, dressing, positioning
3. Measuring vital signs including blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, blood glucose
4. Monitoring basic treatments as directed by registered nurses
5. Ensuring a safe care environment
6. Performing continuous rounds to meet patient and family needs
7. Promoting positive patient experiences through PRIDE behaviors, collaboration, teamwork, and a positive attitude
8. Communicating effectively
9. Working efficiently in a fast-paced environment with excellent customer service skills
10. Changing bed linens, cleaning stretchers and wheelchairs
11. Managing waste and sharps containers
12. Assisting in operating room turnover and cleaning
13. Managing equipment and positioning devices
14. Restocking supplies and monitoring par levels
15. Performing other related duties as assigned
16. Transporting patients upon discharge

Qualifications include:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 0-3 years of experience as a Nursing Assistant or related healthcare role
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained after hire)

Minimum experience requirements:

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting including OR, pre-op, and recovery areas
• Surgery center or OR experience preferred
• EMT experience welcomed
