Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant for Per Diem Days in the PACU. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you provide basic patient care, assist with daily living activities, and help ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, aiding with nutrition and hygiene, and following infection control policies. The role offers daytime shifts in New Jersey and requires adherence to vaccination policies.

Qualifications

• Under RN supervision, assists with basic patient care and daily living activities.
• Observes and reports vital signs and unusual patient findings.
• Follows infection control and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the RN and completes activities of daily living.
• Takes and records vital signs; reports observations to nurse.
• Collects specimens and tracks intake/output as required.
• Assists with nutrition, room service orders, and feeding as needed.
• Performs basic clinical procedures under supervision.
• Accesses non-controlled medications with appropriate authorization.
• Supports orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.

Job Description:

Position Summary: Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs basic patient care activities in providing for the personal needs, comfort and safety of patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes all aspects of activities of daily living for assigned patients (refer to Delegation Competency for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel).
• Vital Signs: May take and record the following: Reports all unusual observations or reactions of the patient to the nurse assigned to the patient or charge nurse.
• oxygen saturation height and weight vital signs Intake and Output: Collects various specimens for analysis and measures and records intake and output.
• 3. Activities of Daily Living: Provides patients with personal care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Clinical Procedures: Performs basic clinical procedures independently or under direct supervision of a nurse.
• Follows department procedures related to access to non-controlled medications, such as IV solutions and vaccines, when granted access to these medications as part of the job functions.
• Nutrition: Provides for patients nutritional needs including: assisting the patient with ordering room service, set up of meal tray, and feeds the patient as required.
• Safety: Supports a culture of safety and carries out safety interventions for all patients.
• Infection Control: Adheres to all applicable infection control policies and procedures.
• Sitter: Assist as patient safety attendant after completion of required competency.
• Orientation: Assists with orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Performs additional unit based activities as assigned.

Pay Range:

$20.00 - $26.92

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
