It includes 156 licensed beds for specialized pediatric care, along with the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as part of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. The hospital provides state-of-the-art pediatric services through a comprehensive staff including pediatric subspecialty physicians and a Magnet-recognized nursing team known for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Pediatric Special Care Unit is seeking a Nursing Assistant II. This role involves performing general patient care under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
- Provide routine treatments and maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Ensure safety and security of patients, families, staff, and visitors.
- Protect patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
- Follow standard precautions, including hand hygiene between patients.
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Record vital signs and other patient data as directed.
- Document pertinent patient information accurately following hospital policies.
- Report safety concerns or changes in patient condition to the RN or healthcare team.
- Participate in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
- Deliver exceptional service and care to patients, families, and team members.
- Demonstrate competency in specific tasks and skills as per Orlando Health standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized nursing unit.
- Handle incoming calls, guest requests, and patient call lights.
- Transport items, equipment, blood products, and medications throughout the facility.
- May have limited access to medication storage areas.
- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with hospital policies and legal standards.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education/Training
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of nursing assistant experience within the past five years, or completion of approved training such as Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant Program, Florida CNA certification, or Licensed Practical Nurse licensure.
Licensure/Certification
- Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
Experience
- One year of relevant healthcare experience within the past five years, or no experience required for graduates of approved nursing programs or listed trainings.
