Position Details: Full Time, 7pm - 7am, every third weekend.
Summary:
- This is a cross-trained position, assigned as either a Unit Secretary or Nursing Assistant. The Unit Secretary handles office management, clerical duties, and supports administrative activities on the Nursing Unit. The Nursing Assistant provides patient care under RN supervision. Both roles support the operation of the nursing unit and adhere to policies, procedures, and organizational goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Communication and Customer Service: Greet patients and visitors, demonstrate professional communication, answer calls, assist with directions, facilitate patient transport and belongings, and perform follow-up calls and patient satisfaction surveys.
- Electronic Order Management: Assist with accurate entry of medical orders, monitor alerts and worklists, communicate updates to staff, and ensure proper documentation and processing of orders.
- Chart Management: Label and maintain paper charts, prepare charts for admissions/discharges, facilitate record requests, and ensure compliance with policies.
- Patient Flow: Manage admissions, transfers, discharges, and census updates, and support documentation and billing processes.
- Patient Care: Provide age-appropriate care, assist with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, specimen collection, and safety monitoring, and respond promptly to patient needs.
- Communication & Documentation: Relay patient and unit information timely, document care accurately, and seek guidance as needed.
- Role Development & Support: Engage in ongoing learning, support organizational initiatives, and maintain a professional environment.
Credentials:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
- Certified Nurse Aid or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
Education/Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- 0-1 years of experience in healthcare or clinical training preferred.
