Shift: NIGHT (7pm-7am)3/12

Title: Nursing Assistant

Summary: Performs general patient care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutrition.
  • Provide routine treatments and maintain a safe, clean environment.
  • Ensure safety and security of patients, families, and staff.
  • Protect patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
  • Follow standard precautions, including hand hygiene between patients.
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Record vital signs and fluid intake/output as directed.
  • Document patient information accurately per policies.
  • Communicate patient safety and condition concerns to RN or team members.
  • Participate in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
  • Deliver exceptional service and care.
  • Demonstrate competency in assigned tasks and skills.
  • Maintain a clean and organized nursing unit.
  • Handle incoming calls, patient call lights, and guest requests.
  • Transport items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
  • Limited access to medication storage areas.
  • Maintain punctual attendance per policies and standards.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions:

  • Support and participate in planned changes.
  • Engage in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Understand legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
  • Use time and resources effectively.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Complete mandatory training.
  • Provide age-specific care, assessing data to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification: BLS/Healthcare Provider certification within 30 days of hire.

Experience: One year of relevant experience.
