Job Overview:

Provides basic, direct patient care, taking into account specific needs related to the patient's age. Assumes responsibility for patient care and functions as a member of the healthcare team, taking direction from a Registered Nurse. All care is provided in compliance with department policies, procedures, and Standards of Care.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma
• BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Effective communication skills and basic math skills
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

• Previous Nursing Assistant experience and/or successful completion of two Registered Nurse accredited clinical courses and/or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program

Certifications and Licenses:

• BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

• Evenings 3:00PM - 11:00PM
• Every other weekend required; schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
• Full-Time (37.5 hrs)
• Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

• Participates in assessment of patient needs and communication with the healthcare team
• Participates in staff, patient, and/or family education to a degree consistent with personal knowledge base
• Participates in unit Quality Improvement activities
• Uses understanding of growth and development principles to assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide age-appropriate care
