Henry Ford Health is seeking a Nurse Assistant for an Orthopedic Joint Replacement, Bariatric, Surgical Unit. The role supports RNs during 6:00PM–6:30AM shifts across a 36-bed, three-wing unit renowned for a family-like culture and strong engagement.

Responsibilities include routine bedside care, vitals, blood collection, and patient comfort. Qualifications emphasize a high school diploma or GED, CNA preferred, completion of a Nurse Assistant program, or enrollment in a nursing program;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• CNA preferred but not required.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (or equivalent titles) is expected.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with Fundamentals of Nursing completed.
• Foreign-trained RN relocating to the U.S. without Michigan license considered.
• Medical Assistant program may apply with or without experience.
• At least one year of NA/PCT/PAT experience preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet the safety and comfort needs of the patient. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

These duties may include but are not limited to:

• Blood draws
• Vitals
• Performs venipuncture and chemsticks
• Team rounding

• Identifies concerns related to patients, staff, and self, and communicates with the responsible RN

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• CNA, preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.)
• OR Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
• OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
• OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience.
• OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
