Job summary

The Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida BOCES seeks an Evening Nursing Assistant Instructor to prepare students for NYS CNA certification through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and clinical supervision. The class runs 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, totaling 75 hours per semester.

Responsibilities include teaching infection control, patient safety, communication techniques, vital signs, and daily living activities, and ensuring students meet certification requirements for successful careers

Qualifications

• Unencumbered New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• One year long-term care nursing experience, minimum two years as a nurse.
• New York State Teacher Certification to teach Nursing Assistant or Practical Nursing or eligibility for Transitional A Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare students with knowledge, skills, and confidence for NYS CNA certification.
• Deliver classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, and clinical supervision.
• Prepare students for CNA exam, post-secondary education and/or employment.
• Model professionalism and compassionate patient-centered care.

Job description

SCHEDULE: Evening class that runs from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, totaling 75 course hours per semester.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:Commensurate with certification/experience in keeping with the current negotiated agreement with the BOCES Professional Association. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• The Nursing Assistant Instructor is responsible for preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide high-quality, compassionate care in a variety of healthcare settings. Through classroom instruction, hands‑on skills training, and clinical supervision, the instructor ensures students meet New York State certification requirements and are prepared for successful careers as Certified Nursing Assistants.
• Teach essential caregiving skills including infection control, patient safety, communication techniques, measuring vital signs, and assistance with daily living activities.
• Preparing students for the Certified Nursing Assistant exam, post‑secondary education and/or employment as a nursing assistant.
• Serve as a role model for professionalism, ethical conduct, and compassionate patient‑centered care.

• Unencumbered New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
• One year long‑term care nursing experience, minimum two years as a nurse.
• New York State Teacher Certification to teach Nursing Assistant or Practical Nursing or eligibility for Transitional A Certificate. Candidates applying for a Transitional A Certificate must possess at least the minimum requirements per NYS Education which is a combination of experience in the field, education, and required workshops and tests.
• Teaching experience preferred.
