Job summary

CVTC is seeking dynamic RN instructors to join our team in Eau Claire, WI. You will design curricula, deliver high-quality instruction, and assess student progress across terms including fall, spring, and summer. This role requires current Wisconsin RN licensure and significant clinical experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) RN experience; at least 1 year within 5 years prior to hire.
  • At least 1 year RN experience in a skilled nursing facility; home health not sufficient.
  • Current Wisconsin RN licensure or ability to obtain before teaching.
  • Ability to complete DHS Train the Trainer by end of first full week.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Must meet CVTC requirements and Higher Learning Commission standards.

Hourly Pay Rate/Salary

Starting salary of $68,305 - $85,379. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Work Schedule

Instructional assignments fall, spring, and summer terms; workload is anticipated to flex in distribution over the terms (includes 720-800 instructional hours or 40-45 credits annually). Schedule may include day and evening assignments at various locations which may include area high schools.

Overview and Responsibilities

CVTC instructors are dynamic partners for students, employers, and communities to learn, train, and succeed in an associate degree, technical diploma, basic education, continuing education, and/or contract training program. An instructor works with students beyond the classroom to ensure their success, models CVTC core abilities, and demonstrates commitment to excellence in program/course/training content and delivery. An instructor is able to work effectively in a collaborative environment; is willing to innovate and change to meet evolving program and industry needs; and demonstrates competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching. An instructor maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, online, or summer assignments, as appropriate. Instructional assignments will be over 3 terms (fall, spring, and summer). Professional responsibilities extend beyond the assigned instructional terms. These professional duties will vary by program or department.

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience as a registered nurse (RN), of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2 years of post−secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to date of hire.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a RN in a skilled nursing facility providing long-term care, rehabilitation care, or home healthcare. (Home healthcare alone will not meet this State requirement.) Experience in an acute care facility does not meet this requirement.
  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin, or ability to obtain prior to teaching assignment.
  • Must meet requirements of Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services (DHS) approval as a primary instructor of Nurse Aide, Nurse Assistant, Nursing Assistant, and Certified Nursing Assistant [as defined in DHS 129.03(30)(a)] training programs as evidenced by a DHS approval letter on file at the district.
  • Ability to complete the online “Train the Trainer” course for DHS by the end of the first full week / 5 days of employment.
  • Prior teaching or training experience preferred.
  • Qualified per CVTC requirements at time of, and throughout, employment as an instructor. Must also meet and maintain Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirements, Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS), and/or other job specific licensing standards.
