Qualifications

• ASE-Certified Master Automobile & Light Truck Technician; must meet A1-A8, G1, L1-3 and renewal every five years.
• Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in the program area, with 1 year (2,000 hours) in the last 5 years.
• EPA 609 MVAC Certification for Automotive Air Conditioning.
• Prior teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
• ASE Instructors must attend at least 20 hours of industry update training each year.

Hourly Pay Rate/Salary

Starting salary of $52,624 - $65,773. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Work Schedule

Instructional assignments fall and spring terms; workload is anticipated to flex in distribution over the terms (includes 576-640 instructional hours or 32-36 credits annually). Schedule may include day and evening assignments at various locations which may include area high schools.

Overview and Responsibilities

CVTC instructors are dynamic partners for students, employers, and communities to learn, train, and succeed in an associate degree, technical diploma, basic education, continuing education, and/or contract training program. An instructor works with students beyond the classroom to ensure their success, models CVTC core abilities, and demonstrates commitment to excellence in program/course/training content and delivery. An instructor is able to work effectively in a collaborative environment; is willing to innovate and change to meet evolving program and industry needs; and demonstrates competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching. An instructor maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, online, or summer assignments, as appropriate. Instructional assignments will be over 2 terms (fall and spring). Professional responsibilities extend beyond the assigned instructional terms. These professional duties will vary by program or department.

• Associate’s degree in a related field OR an associate’s degree in any field with a technical diploma in Automotive Maintenance (industry certifications may be taken into consideration in lieu of a technical diploma in Automotive Maintenance). If all other knowledge, skills, and abilities are present, candidates in process of completing an associate’s degree may be considered with an agreement to complete within a predetermined amount of time after hire.
• ASE-Certified Master Automobile & Light Truck Technician. A1-A8, G1, L1-3 and ability to renew every five years.
• Minimum of 2 years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in a target job for the program or programs being taught, of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the instructor has at least 2 years of post−secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to date of hire.
• EPA 609 MVAC Certification for Automotive Air Conditioning.
• Prior teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
• ASE Instructors must attend a minimum of 20 hours of recognized automotive industry technical update training each year that is relevant to their program.
