Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Nursing Assistant to learn and perform basic nursing duties under close supervision in outpatient, inpatient, home, or community living settings.

The NA supports care for veterans with acute to chronic conditions under nursing staff direction. Qualified candidates may meet GS-3 to GS-5 requirements, with experience or education outlined in the basic requirements.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• English language proficiency must be demonstrated.
• Six months of general experience or equivalent education.
• Education with transcripts may meet requirements.
• Demonstrated KSAs for nursing care and patient interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care under supervision across outpatient, inpatient, home, or community settings.
• Monitor and document patient condition and respond to changes.
• Assist with basic nursing tasks and procedures per established plans.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and report hazards.
• Participate in treatment planning meetings and care coordination.
