Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant II is a vital member of the nursing care team, assisting with direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of RNs and LPNs. Responsibilities include:

• Providing ADL care, including oral hygiene, bathing, toileting, changing linens, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Ensuring safety through infection prevention, skin integrity, fall prevention, and responding to safety alarms.
• Supporting patient mobility, including turning, ambulation, and using assistive devices.
• Assisting with nutrition, including meal delivery, setup, and documentation.
• Collecting patient data such as vital signs, EKGs, and other measurements.
• Documenting care in EMR, including vital signs and patient responses.
• Monitoring patients directly, including safety observation and surveillance.
• Performing delegated interventions like phlebotomy, EKGs, and specimen collection.
• Preparing rooms, transporting patients, responding to emergencies, and communicating with the healthcare team.
• Providing excellent customer service, respecting individual patient needs and preferences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of direct patient care experience in an acute or long-term care setting, or current CNA certification with 1-year experience, or EMT certification with relevant experience (ED applicants only).

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS certification required within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
• Frequent use of grasping, hearing, lifting, pushing, reaching, standing, and walking.
