Position Summary

  • Location: Downtown Orlando, Orlando Regional Medical Center
  • Shift: Nights, 7pm - 7am, three shifts per week

The Nursing Assistant performs patient care under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

The 11LP Digestive Health Unit is a 30-bed unit caring for patients before and after procedures at the Digestive Health Institute, which offers advanced diagnostic and treatment options, including AI capabilities.

This unit supports our efforts to establish a solid organ transplant program, providing specialized training for staff to care for complex digestive health patients and participate in cutting-edge research protocols.

Common Procedures:

  • Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM)
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

Responsibilities

  1. Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutrition.
  2. Provide routine treatments and maintain a safe, clean environment.
  3. Ensure safety and confidentiality of patients and staff.
  4. Follow standard precautions and hand hygiene protocols.
  5. Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
  6. Record vital signs and pertinent patient data accurately.
  7. Communicate patient concerns and safety issues to the healthcare team.
  8. Participate in handoff reports and hourly rounding.
  9. Deliver exceptional service and care to patients and families.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized unit.
  11. Handle incoming calls, patient requests, and guest inquiries.
  12. Transport items, equipment, blood products, and medications throughout the facility.

Other Functions

  • Support and participate in planned changes and performance improvement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, patient rights, and accreditation standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory training.
  • Provide age-specific care based on developmental principles.
  • Assess patient data to determine needs and appropriate interventions.
