The State of South Carolina is seeking a Nursing Assistant II/Certified Nursing Assistant to provide specialized nursing care for a diverse geriatric and psychiatric population. This role involves leading CNA staff, monitoring resident care, and ensuring compliance with Nursing Care Plans. Ideal candidates should possess the required state certification and demonstrate effective leadership and interpersonal skills.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, CMTNCC, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the Nursing Assistant II/Certified Nursing Assistant, working under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, you will function as the lead Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on an assigned unit and shift. You will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to a culturally diverse geriatric and psychiatric population requiring long-term nursing care based on an individualized Nursing Care Plan. You will utilize effective leadership and interpersonal skills, provide guidance, and assist other CNAs in their duties.
This position requires flexibility in work hours, including weekends, holidays, and hazardous weather coverage.
State Minimum: A high school diploma or GED and experience as a nursing assistant.
Agency Minimum: A bachelor's degree in a health-related field; or a high school diploma/GED and five (5) or more years of health-related experience. Must have SC Nurse Aide Certification for Long Term Care.
Note: Applicants must meet both State and Agency minimum requirements. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
The selected applicant must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, stand, walk, reach, pull, push, stoop, bend, and climb at least two or three flights of stairs. Must tolerate noise and circulate in patient areas for extended periods. Ability to work with repetitive unusual patient behaviors and beyond scheduled hours is required.
