Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to join the Child Adolescent and Eating Disorder Psychiatry Inpatient Unit. This 36-hour-per-week, rotating shift role requires providing routine patient care under supervision, with weekend/holiday rotation and comprehensive benefits.

The unit is a 28-bed area focusing on adolescent, child, and eating disorder patients, emphasizing safety and coping skill development.

Qualifications

Nursing Assistant I certification with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
Fluent in verbal and written English and able to develop basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures.
Aids patients in reality orientation and participates in behavior modification plans/therapy.
Observe, collect, and document patient information and report changes to RN/physician.
Assist in admission, orientation, and discharge processes for patients and families.
Provide care/treatments per plan of care including vital signs, task-specific procedures, and ROM exercises.
Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation).
Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies; assist in orientation of new staff and perform routine clerical tasks.
Reinforce teaching and distribute patient education materials.
